Why am I unable to place a limit order in a stock I hold?

Answer

If you are trying to place a limit order on a stock that you currently hold but get the error "The number of shares you have entered is greater than your current holding" you may have an existing limit order on this stock already.

To check if you do have an order open on a partciluar stock, go to 'Portfolio & Deal' and click on the portfolio in which you hold the shares. At the top of your account view there is a section that says 'Pending Orders'. Click on the word 'Yes' to view your open orders.
