Why does my purchase show as a sale (and vice versa) on the Market News and Data pages?

When you place a trade some of these details are released to the market. These details are:

  • Time of trade
  • Number of shares traded
  • Price of the trade

When this informtion is picked up by the research providers, they look at the trade price and compare it to the current buy/sell price. If the trade price is closer to the sell price, the provider will record it as an indicative sale (and vice versa).
