Question

What should I do if I see red crosses on the login page where password characters should be?

Answer

Our website writes a new 'cookie' when you log in.  This is perfectly harmless and common practice when browsing websites.  In this instance the security settings of your computer is preventing our website from writing new cookies.  Rather than changing security settings you will need to set your browser to accept our cookies.

To do this for Internet Explorer 8:

  1. Go to the ‘Tools' menu in Internet Explorer
  2. Select ‘Internet Options'
  3. In the new window go to the ‘Privacy' tab
  4. Now select ‘Sites'
  5. In the window that opens type in the text box ‘barclaysstockbrokers.co.uk'
  6. Select ‘Allow' then ‘OK'
  7. Now select ‘OK' in the ‘Internet Options' window to close this down

For Firefox 3.6 or above

  1. Go to the ‘Tools' menu in Firefox
  2. Select ‘Options'
  3. In the new window go to the ‘Privacy' tab
  4. Change the ‘Firefox will:' dropdown to ‘Use custom settings for history'
  5. Now select ‘Exceptions'
  6. In the window that opens type in the text box ‘www.barclaysstockbrokers.co.uk'
  7. Select ‘Allow' then ‘Close'
  8. Now select ‘OK' in the ‘Options' window to close this down

This should now save your details next time you log in.

Close all your browser windows, then reopen and log in to our website.
