Question

What is a W8-Ben form?

Answer

By completing a W8-Ben form, UK investors may be able to claim a reduction in US tax on dividends and interest from shares traded in the US.

There is a guide available to help you in completing this form.

The W-8BEN is valid for three calendar years after the year in which it is signed, e.g. a form signed in February 2010 will expire on 31st December 2013.  A new form must be submitted when the existing one expires, and Barclays Stockbrokers will inform all customers in advance of expiry.  A change in personal circumstances will also invalidate the form e.g. Name Change, Address change and the client should inform Barclay Stockbrokers if this occurs
