Question

What charges are involved in investing in Funds?

Answer

There are no initial charges when you invest into Barclays Stockbrokers Funds Market funds, saving you between 1% and 5.5% depending on the fund. Charges for funds not on our Funds Market vary by Fund Manager.

Barclays Stockbrokers Funds Market

  • Access to over 2,500 funds from more than 100 fund managers with no initial charges.
  • No account charges across all accounts including SIPP, Investment ISA and MarketMaster ® (when holding only Funds Market funds)
  • You can buy Funds Market funds either online or over the telephone. All you need is a MarketMaster®, Investment ISA or SIPP account with Barclays Stockbrokers.

Annual Management Charges (AMC)
Fund Managers apply an AMC which is deducted directly from the fund to cover ongoing management.

However, the AMC is not the only annual cost; there are others such as: fund administration services, accounting and legal fees, and custodian and settlement charges for the investments the fund holds. When combined with the AMC these give the total expense ratio (TER), which is the combined annual operating expense of the fund.

You can find initial charges, AMCs and TERs listed on each fund's factsheet.
